When Is Air Filter Replacement Required?
An air filter with factory fit lasts up to 50,000 miles. These air filters must however be replaced frequently. A good air filter keeps your engine clean, and improves gas mileage too. For every 3000 miles, air filter should be replaced, if the car is driven under adverse climatic conditions and, for every 30000 miles, it should be replaced if the vehicle is driven under normal conditions.
Airs Filter Replacement Procedure
Turn off the vehicle’s engine at the time of replacement procedure. The top covering of the Highlander should be removed. Find the air filter unit; it is located very closer to the wind shield. Next, you need to locate a black box made-up of plastic material, in which a hose is attached to the plastic box that connects the engine. There will be a lid placed on air filter unit; open the lid by relaxing the clips that holds the air filter.
Remove the old filter from the air filter unit. Try to clean the unit, if there is any garbage remained in, with a wet cloth. Now, the new air-filter needs to be positioned in the unit. Lid should be replaced and the loosened clips should be re-attached in order to lock the lid.
