2009 Toyota Highlander Recall Details

Toyota has started recalling few 2009 Highlander vehicles. They were recalled in the year 2010 due to problems associated with the accelerator pedal. Along with Highlander, other vehicles such as Corolla, Matrix, and Venza were also recalled.

Recall Summary

The accelerator pedal in the vehicle got stuck when wide open because of the incompatible driver’s floor mat being trapped. The accelerator pedal that gets stuck due to floor mat may result in high speed and gets tricky to stop the vehicle. It may cause a serious crash.

Remedy



Manufacturers will replace or modify the accelerator pedals on the respective vehicles. Floor surface modifications are also taken into consideration. Dealers were instructed to reshape the accelerator pedal.

In addition to this, Toyota will replace the floor mats with newly designed mat free of charge.

For the customers who do have the previous all-weather floor with similar kind of design, but do not need any new floor mats, Toyota will reimburse its price. Safety recall for this particular vehicle started on March 30th 2010. Owners can contact the manufacturers at 1-800-331-4331.
